Helmut Lang is an Austrian designer born in 1956. He established the brand under his own name in 1986 in Paris, but he retired from fashion in 2005 with an intention of focusing on his art projects. He is best known for popularizing denim in high fashion and bringing the fabric onto the runway as a luxury item. Helmut Lang as a brand envisions a minimalistic aesthetic and utilitarian approach to fashion design. Brand's silhouettes tend to be androgynous and donned with various forms of ribbons and straps.

The Eskimo parka comes from Helmut Lang's autumn winter 1999 collection. This parka features padded down-filled construction, a removable hood zipped at the neckline, adjustable velcro face closure, interior button fastened bondage straps, and two frontal pockets.
