Since his teenage years, Miyashita spent most of the money he earned on clothes, because of work, spending most of his time in bustling Harajuku, which, at that time, was a hub for the best-dressed teenagers. He taught himself the art of designing clothes by himself from scratch, as well as reinterpreting and distressing his own wardrobe.
